Compkart driver Austin Garrison set fastest lap and broke the track record during the weekend’s pre-final event.
July 24, 2017 (Wampum, PA)— At the fourth round of the Gearup F-Series Challenge, which took place at the Pitt Race track in Wampum, PA, CPI Racing, official importer and distributor for Modena Racing Engines, saw two of their CPI-tuned engines on the podium at this weekend’s event. Compkart driver Austin Garrison and Kosmic driver Rory Van der Steur took 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the final, while Garrison set both fast lap and broke the track record during the pre-final.
Garrison drove his CPI-tuned Modena engine into the KZ shifter pre-final, and on lap 7 at the Wilson Circuit, broke the previous track record with a recored lap time of 52.380. Van der Steur finished 2nd in the pre-final, and both drivers headed into the final where the finished on the podium. The CPI-tuned Modena Engine package is no stranger to sitting on the podium at Gearup F-Series events. CPI engines have held the championship title for the past two years in the KZ shifter class; in 2016 with Rory Van der Steur and 2015 with Max Di Bella. Principal Phil Davis has extensive experience with making the Italian-built shifter engine outperform its competitors.
